Patterns-Physical-Transformation.jpg Learning these kinds of distinctions in what you notice, and learning to generate the nuances of your own internal and external behaviours, is how you become able to really help someone to function better. There seems to be no end to learning the nuances of noticing and doing, just as there seems to be no end to how exquisitely we can function. Simply, all the techniques of things to do, can be categorized as either direct suggestion, exaggeration, or pattern interruption. Direct suggestion is simply offering a choice," you could do this," as in, moving your shoulder in coordination with moving your head. Exaggeration is more provocative. When you find something dysfunctional that you want to stop, then you do more of it, to provoke that response. It's the equivalent of when your friend makes some minor screw-up and says," I can't do anything right"; at this point you agree saying," you are right, in fact, you have never done anything right in your entire life -- really, I don't even know what you said because you never learned to speak right.” You're exaggerating to the point at which it becomes absurd, so that your friend will respond by contradicting you, thus contradicting himself and then organizing to move out of feeling sorry for himself. Physically, if their hips roll to the right easier than left, roll them all the way to the right, and wedge them in that position for a while, and then check the amount of roll again. Pattern interruption is simply getting the person to stop behaving actively in some particular way so that you can get them to do something else. Some novel movement or position can frequently interrupt some dysfunctional pattern.

The point of applying our methods is to establish a good relationship with the unconscious mind. If we can act in a way that is in accord with your unconscious mind's prime directive, for you to be healthy and functioning well, then we gain its trust and cooperation. The by-product of this is that you become healthier, more comfortable, and more available to respond to life. Us forming a relationship with your unconscious mind is not, ultimately, the point. It serves as a direct suggestion for you to relate well with your unconscious mind. And ultimately that is the big point, the conscious you and the unconscious you in a wonderful loving and respectful relationship. The unconscious mind offers all sorts of information to help us. Too often, if someone even thinks of an unconscious mind, it is as some sort of robotic mechanism to run our physiology. It is an active and lively intelligence which is capable of dramatically enriching our lives. The very patterns of perception are unconscious programs. We notice a tiny part of what's out there, and what stand out for us to notice are choices of our unconscious mind. Creative ideas, solutions to problems, and the very nature of reality are selected by our unconscious mind.

Patterns-Physical-Transformation.jpg Frequently people have come in to see us, at war with their unconscious mind. They say things like," this damn hip, can't you just take it out.” Sometimes they hit the offending part with their fist, or mash their fingers into it. Usually people ignore their bodies, unless they have a pain, or it betrays them, by stopping them from doing something. Imagine how you would feel if someone that you cared enough about to keep them alive, and heal them, when they are sick, only took notice of you to curse you and hit you. That is the condition in which many unconscious minds live. In order to develop a good relationship with anyone you have to notice them, and learn what they like, and what they dislike. With your unconscious mind having such a large interest in your physical well-being, this makes a wonderful context in which to build a relationship. The way towards total transformation of your health, vitality, power, creativity, and the rest of your life, is through cultivating a wonderful relationship with your unconscious mind. This is what our work is about.
